Bought Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC)

April 23, 2010

Bought 18 shares of Intel Corporation for $24.27 per share.

About the company:

Intel Corporation is a semiconductor chip maker, developing advanced integrated digital technology products, primarily integrated circuits, for industries, such as computing and communications. The Company designs and manufactures computing and communications components, such as microprocessors, chipsets, motherboards, and wireless and wired connectivity products, as well as platforms that incorporate these components. It operates in nine operating segments: PC Client Group, Data Center Group, Embedded and Communications Group, Digital Home Group, Ultra-Mobility Group, NAND Solutions Group, Wind River Software Group, Software and Services Group and Digital Health Group. During the fiscal year ended December 26, 2009 (fiscal 2009), it acquired Wind River Systems, Inc., a vendor of software for embedded devices.

Reasoning:

I wanted to add another dividend paying stock, but also wanted to buy a company that I know will grow, instead of an income trust-like company.  The markets are still low to get in, and so its the right time to lock in those high yielding dividend companies.  Being a student, I’ve got limited amount of “cash” to go out and buy/sell what I want.  You’ll also notice that a majority of my portfolio has dividend paying companies, so I assume that is simply something I am more attracted to with my current situation.
